I created a mixed media painting influenced by my research of Joaquin Garcia Torres, one of Uruguay's most influential painters, and incorporated found objects that can be viewed as symbols of the past that hold narratives of Nova Scotia which are "shaped by the sea" . I used water based media, paper, silkscreen, block prints and found objects on wood panel. This painting is part of the "Joaquin in his Shoes" exhibit that will be travelling to Uruguay in 2010.

Lupins Gone Wild
30 x 20

Art Sales & Rentals

When driving in the month of June, the lupin can be seen in great colourful masses along  roadways of Nova Scotia. These wildflowers were introduced, either intentionally or unintentionally, by European settlement during the 18th and 19th century. I just think they are a wild bunch!

Fisher Wife's Lament

This mixed media artwork is based on a  poem written by Jane Munroe who lost her husband Captain Ruben Munroe and two sons (fishermen) to the sea on January 4th, 1910.
Poem is incorporated into the painting.

Milagros for San Miguel
20 " x 30"

"In Spanish, milagro literally means miracle or surprise. Milagro also refers to an ancient aspect of Hispanic folk culture: small silver or gold votive offerings in the shape of arms, legs, eyes and other body parts; animals, fruits, vegetables, etc. These milagros are often attached to statues of saints or to the walls of certain Mexican Churches."
