Andrea Pottyondy, SCA
Andrea Pottyondy, born in Montreal, Quebec considers herself a lifelong student of art. Photography, interior design, calligraphy and painting were a few subjects she pursued in college and at workshops while living in Montreal. In 1984 she moved to Watson Lake, Yukon where the breathtaking scenery and isolation motivated her to further develop her art, including studying art through correspondence with the University of Southern California. Since 1988 she and her family have made beautiful Nova Scotia home. From 1976-2000 she worked in the business sector in a variety of positions, from her first job as a telex operator to owning her own home based computer business in Nova Scotia. After the death of a business client and friend in 2000, she decided to dedicate herself full time to her art work. She is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists (2009), member of Canadian-Hungarian Artist's Collective, member of VANS (Visual Arts Nova Scotia) and also volunteers as a docent for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. In the fall of 2006 she initiated an Artists' Afternoon program at a local community centre where she and a group of artists (Artspa) get together once a week to share in creativity. www.artspagallery.blogspot.com Andrea has taken art classes at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD), Dartmouth Art Students League (DASL) and with professional artists at workshops and retreats.
