The Value of Art & Collecting Art" Peter Gough, SCA VP will share excerpts from a speech given by Kevin Spacey at the Kennedy Centre in Washington, DC as part of the National Arts Advocacy Day in 2011.

Naomi Levine is a lawyer and avid art collector, Chair of the Board of the Winnipeg Art Gallery, represents Manitoba on the board of the Fathers of Confederation Buildings Trust and a member of the Canadian Art Summit. Ms. Levine will speak about the relationship between public galleries, governments and artists and about the role of artists in the community.

I would say many artists are also photographers...amateur or professional...we go out take photos for inspiration, not necessarily to copy it (the photograph does that nicely). I took this one in the valley near Wolfville after an afternoon of apple picking. I have always been attracted by the geometric patterns and texture in landscapes....now to process it in my mind's eye and create something extraordinary...no pressure of course!
